‘Echoes’

AIM x Jerwood Collection, 2025 Exhibition

How does art enable us to make sense of the world? What makes us feel connected to the artwork? What stories do we want to tell about them? These questions have guided the AIM artists in the shaping and development of Echoes.

Echoes is the final year of our three-year collaboration with Arnolfini and Jerwood Foundation. This year’s selection has been curated by AIM artists, and draws on the stories from the artists of the selected artworks, from personal memories, and about imagined worlds and people. Following last year’s collaborative project, this exhibition continues that dialogue – like an echo that reverberates through time and ideas. Each artist has created work in response to selected pieces from the Collection, while shared themes and contexts create further echoes between their own practices.

“These echoes are in conversation with the different works selected from the Jerwood Collection, reflecting one another through colour, form, tone, and feeling, creating threads of connection… Echo implies a voice being heard and repeated many times. The idea is that the artists have the opportunity to add their own voice, and to be heard and seen” – Colin Higginson, Director

The artists exhibiting work are Katy, Emily, Peter, Jonathan, Betty, Beth, and Helen, plus submissions from Molly and Maisie.

See the exhibition on Gallery 5 and corridor on Level 2 of Arnolfini, until 25th January 2026.

With huge thanks to our partners and Arnolfini for this collaboration.
