Job Title: Artist Facilitator
Location: Arnolfini
Hours: Part-Time, Initially 3 hours Tuesday afternoons.
Pay: £120 per session – this includes prep and attending meetings.
Contract Type: Freelance

Art in Motion Charitable Trust (AIM) is a dynamic organisation that collaborates with learning-disabled and Neurodiverse artists to make artwork.
We champion inclusivity and creativity, opening doors to the arts and increasing belonging within the artistic community. We empower artists with learning disabilities to engage, create, and thrive within a supportive and dynamic art community.
We provide opportunities for individuals to develop their art practice, learn new skills, broaden their experience and showcase their work through exhibitions and events.
Role Overview:
We seek a practising artist and skilled facilitator with experience working with learning-disabled and Neurodiverse individuals. The ideal candidate will bring their knowledge of contemporary art practices to inspire, support, and guide artists, enabling them to develop their creative skills, explore new artistic avenues, and gain greater confidence in their art.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitating within a supported art studio setting.
- Facilitate engaging, inclusive art sessions for learning-disabled artists to work towards their creative goals and foster self-expression.
- Design and deliver workshops that incorporate contemporary art practices and techniques.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and mentorship to artists, respecting each individual’s creative vision and pace.
- Collaborate with the AIM team to assess and develop tailored plans that support each artist’s development.
- Document and evaluate sessions, providing feedback to the team and the artists to support their progress.
- An understanding and awareness of an individual’s well-being.
- An understanding of disability rights, equality, access and inclusion.
- To work as part of a team to support the organisation’s development.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A practising artist with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in contemporary art.
- Proven experience as a facilitator or educator, ideally within a setting that supports individuals with learning disabilities
- Excellent communication skills, with a compassionate and patient approach to working with artists of all abilities.
- Knowledge of and passion for contemporary art practices and a commitment to inclusive creative spaces.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in community arts, therapy arts, or social arts projects.
- Ability to adapt artistic techniques and teaching styles to meet the needs of each artist.
- Organised, dependable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A good understanding of professional boundaries in the context of working with vulnerable adults.
