As of 8th June, AIM’s Crowdfunder has come to an end.
Over the past six weeks, the campaign has welcomed new supporters, strengthened existing relationships, formed new partnerships, hosted inspiring events, and created new opportunities for learning-disabled and neurodivergent artists. It has been one of the busiest and most positive periods in AIM’s recent history, demonstrating the belief in our work spreads far beyond our studio walls – but to the networks, organisations, artists, and individuals who have championed our work across Bristol and beyond.
But as one chapter closes, another begins.
We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Bauer Media that will enable us to build on the momentum created through this campaign. Together, we will be developing a city-wide bus stop campaign that will see AIM artists create artwork for 40 bus stops across Bristol.
This ambitious partnership has been made possible through Bauer Media’s support of AIM and our mission. Not only will it increase visibility for our organisation and the artists we work with, but it will also create a powerful platform for learning-disabled and neurodivergent artists’ voices to be seen across the city. The commission represents an exciting opportunity to amplify marginalised voices in new and unexpected public spaces.
The project feels particularly meaningful because many learning-disabled artists within our community rely on buses as part of their everyday lives, making this collaboration closely connected to lived experience and the wider culture of disabled and neurodivergent communities.
The Crowdfunder was launched in May when AIM was faced with an immediate and critical gap in core funding. This funding enables us to provide access to materials for artists, curate exhibitions, run creative projects, host workshops, publish new work, and create opportunities for artists to develop, connect, and thrive. Although we did not reach our fundraising target, the campaign generated valuable learning, strengthened our network of supporters, and created opportunities that will continue to benefit AIM long after the campaign has ended. For small, community-based arts organisations, the funding landscape is becoming increasingly challenging, so we are immensely grateful for the support we received throughout this period.
It is clear our vision for inclusive arts spaces that elevate learning-disabled and neurodivergent artists is clearly shared by a much wider community than our studio walls alone. Every person who donated, shared our campaign, attended an event, or helped spread the word has played a part in strengthening and expanding that community.
To the 100 people who donated to our Crowdfunder – thank you. Your generosity and support will have a direct impact on sustaining our work and supporting our artists.
Our donation page will remain open for anyone who would like to support AIM and help us sustain our work into the future.
We are excited for what comes next. Development of the Bauer Media project will take place throughout summer 2026, with the campaign launching across Bristol later in the year. We can’t wait to share more information with you soon.
